& Midge

Harley
and Midge create relief woodcarvings and in-the-round wood-carvings at their studio
in South-Central, MN in a town called Blue Earth with a population of around 4,000
people. Harley has been in the art field for over 40 years working with stone,
carving, designing and selling memorials. Midge joined him in 2001 helping out
with the art work. Harley has been teaching woodcarving for over 20 years in his
spare time. They began team teaching the art of woodcarving around the country
in 2001. Harley specializes in human and Santa free standing, deep relief using
2" or 3" thick wood making the carving appear as if it is in the round.
He likes to describe them as semi-realistic, with a lot of character. He was introduced
into the Caricature Carvers of America in 1991.
Midge
specializes in near life size animal faces using the same relief technique. Her
animals have a tremendous 3-dimentional life like look. It is not unusual to complete
a piece of Midge and Harleys in a two and half day seminar. Midge is also in charge
of helping you paint your carvings. However, no painting in a 2 or 2 1/2
day seminar. They teach 3, week long seminars, in Branson, MO. every year,
plus 2 1/2 and 3 day weekend seminars around the country as time permits.
They currently reside in Blue Earth, MN.
